Many of its residents like to refer to the Charter Township of West Bloomfield as the “lake township of Oakland County.” Indeed, much like Waterford, there are several lakes present around the area. National Pawnbrokers Outlet of Waterford is proud to serve this affluent community in buying and selling items that are in demand at a reasonable rate of exchange. Our business is making a name for itself around this town because we are the best of our kind in making a great deal, and having the widest selection of available items.

History
Bloomfield Township was established in 1827, granted 36 square miles of area, after splitting from Oakland Township. Just six years later, in 1833, West Bloomfield Township was created from a division of Bloomfield Township. Prior to the establishment of Oakland County, the area surrounding the lakes was mainly heavy forests. The European settlers cleared much of this away to create farms, as well as mills. However, some forest area still remained, most notably apple trees. On one particular island in the middle of a lake, a particularly concentrated orchard was found, thus resulting in the naming of Orchard Lake.

The cheap land, as well as the abundance of water attracted immigrants as well as settlers from other states, especially New York. This resulted in people with many trades converging, thus giving rapid rise to a diverse economy. Money transactions as well as bartering and skill trading took place.

After the advent of the automobile, a streetcar service known as the Detroit United Railway made its way to town. This resulted in quick trade to Detroit, as well as the other suburbs. High demand for land around this water-rich area resulted in heavy real estate investment, and helped develop the town to its present-day affluence. Today, West Bloomfield Township covers 31.2 square miles of area, with 3.9 of them being water. As of the 2010 census, 64,690 people were living within the borders.

Education
Though West Bloomfield does have its own independent school district, there are some public school children that attend six other school districts – Waterford, Farmington, Birmingham, Pontiac, Walled Lake, and Bloomfield Hills. The West Bloomfield School District has five elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.
There are two private high schools located here – St. Mary’s Preparatory, and the Frankel Jewish Academy of Metropolitan Detroit.

Business and Economy
Being an affluent suburb of Detroit, there are many trades and industries of upscale caliber – from grocery stores to clothing boutiques and jewelry stores. Perhaps the most noted of the upscale businesses are the fine dining restaurants. The residents make it a priority to also maintain the natural beauty of this water-rich environment, so there are also several landscaping companies. However, for those looking to make a good deal, places similar to National Pawnbrokers Outlet of Waterford as well as other quality retail stores are also present.

Recreation and Attractions
Of course, some of the most obvious attractions of the township are the plethora of lakes. Pine Lake has a private country club that has an 18-hole golf course, pro shop, lakeside dining, a fitness center, an Olympic sized swimming pool, and indoor and outdoor tennis courts. Weddings and other events are also held in the facility.

The Adventure Park, is the most widely known of the township’s many beautiful outdoor recreational sites. It is an aerial forest park, with aerial trails, zip lines, climbing structures, and many other activities of varying difficulty levels. You can get a rigorous or light workout here, depending on your preference.
